And not only did I fail, I scored less than my friend, who between you and me, is not the brightest bulb in the shed. I am so tempted right now to say that it was an unfair assessment, considering I was supposed to pass even if I accounted for only the bare minimum that I
I knew college professors would be stringent in correcting papers, but I never realized just how unpredictable the final results can be. The results rarely match what you expected. But I will not let this let me down or hinder my academic progress. Failure is, after all, a familiar friend to every successful person out there.
Failure is a wake-up call that your current effort is not enough. It is a circumstance that seems almost primal for us to overcome. It greatly resembles evolution in that sense. If you can survive it, you become stronger. If not, you never deserved what you sought in the first place. Failure is harsh, but then again, reality is no cakewalk. If you want something, you have to go out and take it.
If you're like me, a failure like this will continue to stick like a thorn in your side until you rectify it. It almost becomes like an enemy against whom you have sworn a personal vendetta, the Claudius who has so wronged your Hamlet. This is one of many failures that I have and will continue to face in life, and like all of them, this one will help in my advancement to the next stage. I like to think of it as Odysseus struggling against the elements and defying the Gods themselves until he finally reached his destination. And like Odysseus, I too will set foot on my promised land some day, no matter what it takes.
